They helped us feed the hungry and homeless. “They really absorbed the desire to give back. Elizabeth used to take her allowance and give it away to various causes. We tried to explain to her that the allowance was meant for her. But she said, ‘Others need it so much more.’”
Every night, nearly 50,000 Angelenos go to sleep homeless, enough to fill Dodger Stadium. The California Community Foundation is working with partners to build 10,000 housing units over ten years for our neighbors in need. We invite donors who are passionate about homelessness to become charter investors in the Home L.A. Loan Fund, a one-of-a-kind, risk-free charitable investment option. Investments provide three- or five-year seed capital to organizations building permanent supportive housing units for the chronically homeless, accelerating the pace and scale of production while creating more homes for those who need them.
On November 12, 30 L.A. County-based artists unveiled a group of never-before-seen sculptures exploring the most pressing issues facing our region. Commissioned by CCF, the We Are Los Angeles exhibit represents the collective diversity and strength of Los Angeles. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of our board members and donors, these sculptures now reside with organizations that make an impact on these issues and transform the lives of Angelenos every day.
In January, CCF awarded 14 Los Angeles County artists with $350,000 in grants through the CCF Fellowship for Visual Artists. Launched in 1987 with a generous contribution from the J. Paul Getty Trust, the fellowship has awarded more than $3 million to nearly 300 visual artists. Through the generosity of our donors, the fellowship has expanded into one of the largest investments in individual artists in California.
