As We Celebrate a Supreme Court Win, Funders Must Remain Committed to Achieving a Complete Count

Los Angeles, Jan. 23, 2019  – The California Community Foundation (CCF) awarded 18 Los Angeles County artists with the prestigious CCF Fellowship for Visual Artists (FVA), totaling $450,000 in unrestricted grants. The CCF Fellowship for Visual Artists provides financial and other support to help Los Angeles-based artists build thriving, sustainable careers and to strengthen L.A.’s vibrant arts scene. This year’s fellows were selected from more than 300 applicants working in a wide range of disciplines. “Artists provide us with a portrait of our past, a reflection of our present and a vision of the future we can create together,” said CCF President & CEO Antonia Hernández. “Their passion, courage and commitment are at the core of what defines us as Angelenos.” Launched with a generous contribution from the J. Paul Getty Trust and sustained by the generosity of donors from across Los Angeles, the Fellowship for the Visual Artists has grown to become one of the largest funders of individual artists in California. Since 1988, it has awarded more than $5.5 million to more than 300 visual artists. Along with financial support, the Fellowship also connects artists with career development support and networking opportunities. 5% of net sales from California stores goes to California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund AUSTIN, Texas (Jan. 7, 2019) – Whole Foods Market is teaming up with The California Community Foundation (CCF) to help the communities affected by the California wildfires. On January 10, 2019, 5 percent of net sales from all 88 Whole Foods Market stores in California will go directly to CCF’s Wildfire Relief Fund to support rebuilding across the state following last year’s devastating wildfires: the Camp Fire in Northern California and the Woolsey and Hill Fires in Southern California. “Even the heaviest burdens become lighter when we carry them together,” said CCF President & CEO Antonia Hernández. “The California Community Foundation is proud to partner with Whole Foods Market to help recovery and relief efforts in communities affected by the fires.” Whole Foods Market hosts Community Giving Days on a regular basis, offering customers the opportunity to make a difference through a regular grocery shopping trip.
