As survivors of the Eaton and Palisades fires continue to struggle with basic needs — from buying groceries to keeping up with monthly bills — the California Community Foundation (CCF) announced it has awarded $6 million in grants to 14 nonprofit organizations to deliver direct assistance for those most in need.

The California Community Foundation was recently honored with the Community Impact Award from the Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) alongside nearly 20 community partners supporting rebuilding efforts following the January wildfires. Flanked on stage by the diverse group of organizations driving wildfire recovery forward, CCF President and CEO Miguel A. Santana stepped to the podium and accepted the award on their behalf.

Ten months after the Eaton fire destroyed thousands of homes in Altadena, a showcase of modular and prefabricated housing designs is offering a glimpse of what’s possible for survivors who seek to return to their properties more quickly and affordably than traditional rebuilds.

In a mass public campaign to stand with them and hundreds of other neighbors taken in immigration raids, the California Community Foundation and other prominent institutions are projecting their stories and photographs of Angelenos who support them onto their buildings in billboard-sized, illuminated images.
