What We Fund

CCF’s five priorities are grounded in a simple belief: every Angeleno deserves the opportunity to live a good life. Developed through a countywide listening process, our Strategic Framework turns what we heard from communities into a roadmap for measurable progress and a stronger region that benefits everyone.

Five Priorities, One Shared Future

In summer 2024, CCF began a countywide listening process inspired by civil rights leader Angela Glover Blackwell’s vision of the good life and her work on the curb-cut effect. The concept takes its name from sidewalk ramps designed for wheelchair users that also benefit people pushing strollers, moving carts or pulling luggage. It illustrates a larger principle: when we remove barriers for people furthest from opportunity, we often create systems that work better for everyone.

Through more than a dozen gatherings, virtual sessions, surveys and conversations, we heard from over 2,000 residents, nonprofit leaders, donors and community partners. Across the county, people described a good life in remarkably consistent terms. They want stable housing and healthcare, economic opportunity, safety and connection, and a meaningful role in the decisions that affect their future.

What we heard shaped five interconnected priorities focused on measurable progress, particularly for communities facing the greatest barriers. The Strategic Framework now helps CCF align grantmaking, advocacy, impact investing and partnerships around shared goals, recognizing that expanding opportunity for those furthest from the good life strengthens our entire region.

Our Priorities

CCF’s five priorities reflect the many connected conditions that make a good life possible. Housing stability shapes health and economic opportunity. Safe, connected neighborhoods create the conditions for healing, while community voice helps ensure solutions reflect lived experience. By building on these connections, progress in one area can support progress in others and create lasting benefits across our region.

Meeting Basic Needs

When the basics — housing, health, essential services — are out of reach, everything else becomes harder. We work to change that because a region where everyone has a stable foundation is a region where everyone can thrive.

Building Economic Opportunity

Every Angeleno deserves a pathway to economic security. We work to create and widen those routes through expanded access to education, job training and investment in the local businesses and entrepreneurs driving community wealth.

Creating Safe, Resilient & Connected Communities

From clean air and healthy food to community-led public safety, we invest in what makes neighborhoods places where people can live well and look out for each other.

Ensuring Communities Have a Voice

More than just good intentions, change requires accountability. We support the civic engagement and trusted media sources that empower community members to be part of the decisions impacting their lives.

Supporting Healing & Renewal

Some of what Los Angeles has lost can be rebuilt. Some requires deeper healing. We invest in community programs and land restoration to help people recover and shape what comes next.
