Los Angeles, CA – The California Community Foundation (CCF) has awarded more than $15 million in grants to nearly 130 nonprofit organizations in Altadena, Pasadena, the Palisades and other impacted areas in Los Angeles County, marking the first round of support from its Wildfire Recovery Fund. These grants reflect CCF’s commitment to help the region recover and rebuild from the devastating wildfires that have ravaged the region.
The initial round of grants prioritizes the urgent needs of the most vulnerable and underserved communities. Funding will also restore critical community anchors such as healthcare facilities, places of worship, and gathering spaces essential to restoring the fabric of neighborhoods.
“We know that our path to recovery is rooted in community. This first round of funds bring immediate relief to victims, enabling trusted organizations to provide essential services to those most affected,” said Miguel Santana, President of the California Community Foundation. “ These grants mark a significant first step in what we know will be a long road to recovery ahead to build back LA strong.”
Informed by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) best practices, CCF’s initial grants will fund a range of services for impacted communities. Grantees will provide direct financial assistance to cover costs of lost housing, employment, clothing, and food. Additional funding will support legal aid, mental health services, childcare, and emergency relief for displaced families and workers.
“Our goal at Jewish Family Service LA (JFSLA) has always been to ensure that people in Los Angeles have the support they need to live with dignity and thrive,” said President and CEO Eli Veitzer. “In the aftermath of this wildfire catastrophe that has devastated so many in our community, the need is greater than ever. This generous grant allows us to help fire survivors directly so they can recover, rebuild, and regain their lives.”
Resources will also strengthen community organizations and faith-based centers, support emergency coordinators aiding victims, and expand trusted information channels, keeping communities informed.
