Interactive Eligibility Test

The California Community Foundation is pleased to consider applications from organizations whose work is consistent with our program goals and outcomes.

Eligible organizations are:

  • Nonprofit agencies with evidence of tax-exempt status under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and not classified as a private foundation
  • Located within and primarily serving residents of Los Angeles County, except for regional, statewide or national public policy efforts that may benefit a substantial portion of the local population
  • Operated and organized so that they do not discriminate in the hiring of staff or in providing services on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin or disability

Below are questions to help you determine your eligibility for a competitive grant with the California Community Foundation. If you have questions, please refer to the competitive grants criteria and eligibility information.

    1. Is your organization a nonprofit with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and not classified as a private foundation? 
    2. Is your organization located within Los Angeles County or would the benefits from a grant to your organization have regional, statewide or national public policy repercussions that would benefit a substantial portion of the Los Angeles County population? 
    3. Is your organization operated and organized so that it does not discriminate in the hiring of staff or the provision of services on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin or disability? 
    4. Would this grant be used for an annual fundraising campaign? 
    5. Is this grant for the direct assistance of an individual? 
    6. Would this grant be used for the sponsorship of a one-time, special event? 
    7. Would this grant be used for an endowment? 
    8. Would this grant be used for existing obligations or to replenish resources used to pay for such expenses? 
    9. Would this grant be used for equipment other than what could be considered integral to accomplishing a stated organizational objective? 
    10. Would this grant be used for sectarian purposes, i.e., programs that promote or require a religious doctrine? 
    11. Would this grant be used to fund or support political organizations or campaigns? 
    12. Would this grant be used to fund feature films, documentaries and/or video projects?
