The Kinnaman Foundation is founded by actor, entrepreneur and philanthropist Joel Kinnaman.
As a passionate advocate for sustainability and social justice, the foundation aims to support brave initiatives that create sustainable livelihoods for underserved communities, while striving to protect the environment. Our vision is to empower communities to create their own solutions to environmental and social issues they face.
Launching in 2020, the Foundation’s first project supports an NGO in Bali that is working with the most vulnerable communities on the island. After seeing their work in action and being touched by the lives impacted, the Kinnaman Foundation is supporting the Bali Life Foundation in their efforts to serve orphans and abused children, the children and families living on the island’s biggest garbage dump, and mothers and children previously making a living as beggars.
COVID-19 has affected everybody. Bali, a famous tourist destination with 80% of the island’s economy relying on tourism, has been hit hard by the complete halt in tourism. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, a big portion of the island’s population face unemployment and little possibility to feed themselves or their families.
Those already living in poverty and struggling for a livelihood are hit the hardest by the economic consequences of the pandemic. The Bali Life Foundation’s response has been to feed those most in need and to create employment opportunities within their existing community centers. Being able to keep their community centers and orphanage open and operational in these hard times is crucial for the communities they are serving.
In response, the Kinnaman Foundation is supporting the overall operations of the Bali Life Foundation. In addition, an order of 4,000 face masks are being produced in Bali Life’s women’s workshop, employing and empowering women previously working as waste pickers and/or providing for themselves through begging.
By donating, you will support Bali Life Foundation’s important work of keeping children safe and mothers employed during these challenging times.
