Altadena Rising: Trusted Relationships, Civic Capacity, Communication, and Community Power-Building after the Eaton Fire

Instagram: @AltadenaRising | Website: altadenarisingnow.org

Altadena Rising was born out of hundreds of conversations with impacted families who were devastated by the impacts of the Eaton Fire.

We are Dena-raised Black organizers who are deeply rooted in the community, and we understand both the local realities and the systemic barriers at play. We also work closely with local organizers, public leaders, and power-holding entities, all of which are key to Altadena’s full recovery.

Since the fire hit on January 7, we’ve been helping Altadena’s Black and most vulnerable families navigate to the relief they need. We’ve been listening carefully to our community, and moving quickly to connect them to resources, housing, funding, and more.

While we center Altadena’s Black and most vulnerable families, we also organize across local organizers to collectively serve all families. We’ve been connecting with those who are providing relief and representing Altadena at decision-making tables, building capacity with strategic relationships and serving as a reliable communication source.

Altadena Rising has the relationships that government agencies rely on. We advocate for impacted families’ voices to be centered as we collectively build the infrastructure for Altadena’s future. By serving as the connective tissue between families, local groups, philanthropy, and public government systems, we are making sure resources flow where they’re needed most, and our community builds its power.

Altadena Rising is looking to partner with donors that align with us, and would love to connect!
