Ensuring Communities Have a Voice
The California Community Foundation (CCF) believes a thriving democracy relies on every person having a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their lives. Civic engagement is fundamental to advancing all of CCF's core priorities, including housing, health, economic opportunity, and community resilience.
The 2026 midterms present a critical moment to safeguard representation and protect access to vital public resources. To ensure a free, fair, and safe election, CCF supports local election workers, helps voters navigate voting safeguards, and counters misinformation with accurate resources.
Our commitment to empowering communities and ensuring every eligible vote is counted extends well beyond Election Day.
Voter Resources
Strong communities are built by people who show up for each other, and that includes showing up to vote.
CCF’s 2026 civic engagement work is carried out by trusted community organizations that know their neighborhoods and have earned the confidence of the people they serve. Their work spans many languages and communities that are often overlooked.
Together, they help residents register, understand what’s on the ballot, get to the polls and have confidence that their votes are counted.
As the November election approaches, access to reliable, nonpartisan information is essential to ensuring every eligible voter can participate with confidence.
This page brings together resources to help Angelenos navigate the voting process, understand their rights and find trustworthy election information.
You’ll also find information about the nonprofit organizations CCF supports to strengthen voter engagement, expand access to election resources and protect the integrity of our elections.

A Count You Can Trust
As part of this work, CCF is a convener of A Count You Can Trust, a nonpartisan coalition of Angelenos committed to increasing public trust and voter confidence in elections through collaboration, communication and election education across Los Angeles County.
Coalition members demystify how elections work and explain the safeguards that protect them, from verification of every mail ballot to public observation of the count.
The coalition does not support or oppose candidates, parties or ballot measures, and operates separately from CCF’s ballot positions.

Investing in Civic Engagement
CCF is proud to support nonprofit organizations working to strengthen civic engagement, expand voter access and information, and protect the integrity of our elections. These grantee partners work at the community, county and state levels to help ensure more Californians have the information and resources they need to participate in our democracy.
Explore the organizations below to learn more about their work and find additional election resources. Many of our grantee partners are sharing timely, engaging voter education content on social media. Click their Instagram handles to explore these resources and follow along. Where available, we’ve also linked directly to voter guides developed or shared by these organizations to help you navigate the November election.
The organizations are grouped by the geographic reach or focus of their work, as well as their role in strengthening election protection and the broader media and information ecosystem.
On the ground, our partners focus on four areas of impact:

🛡️ Voter Integrity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reaching people who vote less often or haven’t been asked before, through nonpartisan outreach, voter guides and education on ballot measures. |
Sharing official, nonpartisan information on voter rights, key deadlines and resources available to every voter.
|
Reaching the least-connected communities with rides to the polls, ballot parties, community events and quick responses to false information. | Making sure every eligible voter can take part in a free, fair and safe election, every ballot properly cast is counted, and that voters can trust the results. |

CCF’s Democracy Fund
CCF’s Democracy Fund brings donors and partners together around one of our core shared American values: A government of, by and for the people works best when everyone can take part. Gifts to the Fund help more Californians vote, give voters trusted, nonpartisan information, and protect every eligible voter’s right to a free, fair and secure election.
Contributions to the Democracy Fund will be deployed immediately to proven, high-impact, community-trusted organizations working on the front lines of election integrity and voting access. Grants will be made to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations for strictly nonpartisan, non-lobbying activities. Investment priorities include:
ℹ️ Helping voters understand the voter ID measure: Clear, nonpartisan information in multiple languages, so voters know what’s at stake before they fill out their ballot.
📣 Getting out the vote and making every ballot count: Outreach in communities of color, low-income and immigrant communities, along with help fixing simple mistakes like a missing signature so eligible votes aren’t thrown out.
🔓 Protecting voters: Responding quickly to false information, voter intimidation, and unfair barriers at the polls, as well as taking legal action when needed.
🛡️ Building confidence in the count: Some groups are actively trying to make people doubt California’s elections. The Fund supports public campaigns that explain how ballots are checked, how mail and drop-box ballots are handled, and who oversees the count.

The right to vote, and to trust that every vote counts, is one of America’s founding promises. It belongs to every eligible voter, whatever their party or background. The weeks ahead are a defining moment for that promise, in California and across the country.
Through the Democracy Fund, you can help make sure every eligible voter has the information, access and protection they need to make their voice heard. Gifts support eligible 501(c)(3) organizations doing strictly nonpartisan work. Your support builds partnerships with trusted community organizations, protections for voters, and the ability to respond quickly when problems come up. That strength will carry through the 2026 midterms, the 2028 presidential election and beyond.
We invite you to invest alongside CCF in the long-term strength of our democracy, protecting voters today while building the capacity to safeguard every election to come.
CCF’s Priorities on the 2026 Ballot: Basic Needs and Community Voice
The November ballot includes 14 statewide ballot measures and a number of County and City measures. CCF has invested in extensive nonpartisan voting information covering the full range of questions on the ballot.
As a community foundation, CCF can and does take positions on ballot measures with outsized impact on our mission and in alignment with our community partners. We have taken a position and made investments on four ballot measures this year:
Proposition 39 would make California one of the most restrictive states for voting:
In-person voting would require voters to produce a government-issued ID for inspection and review.
Voting by mail would require voters to write the last four digits of their Social Security number or other government-issued identification number on the outside of their mail ballot.
Citizens who don’t supply this personal identification information would be prohibited from exercising their constitutional right to vote.
Research shows that these measures dramatically decrease voter turnout, especially among groups that have historically been marginalized and disenfranchised, including immigrants, seniors, women and voters of color.
Moreover, California’s elections are already among the most secure in the world, with extensive ballot validation and verification procedures; Proposition 39 would break a system that is working. CCF is investing $1.94 million to educate voters about the measure’s implications and mobilize opposition.
2. Yes on Proposition 1: Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond.
Proposition 1 would authorize an $11.25 billion general obligation bond to fund programs that support the creation and preservation of affordable housing, expand homebuying opportunities for low- and moderate-income Californians and veterans, and invest in permanent solutions to solve homelessness.
Proposition 1 dollars would replenish funding for several successful state programs that have exhausted their resources. Funding will be allocated via formulas and competitive grants; LA County’s share may reach ~$6 billion.
3. No on Proposition 43: Limits Voters’ Ability to Raise Revenues for Local Government Services.
Beginning January 1, 2027, Proposition 43 would require approval from at least two-thirds of local voters for any local initiative that creates, extends or increases a special tax.
At a time when communities across Los Angeles County and California face significant challenges and uncertainty, this measure would make it more difficult for local voters to raise revenue for essential public services, and would give a relatively small share of voters outsized power to block locally supported investments.
By limiting communities’ ability to fund public services and act through the ballot box, Proposition 43 would undermine both meeting basic needs and ensuring that communities have a meaningful voice.
4. Yes on Measure FD: Fund the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Measure FD would institute a 0.5% sales tax increase in the City of Los Angeles to generate an additional $345 million a year for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The money would be used to fulfill outstanding budget needs like hiring more firefighters and paramedics and purchasing and maintaining vehicles and other equipment.
