“It is just very, very important to me that women have equality in this country.”

My first political act was handing out leaflets for Governor Edmund G. Brown while a student at University of California Berkeley. Inspired by my parents’ example of activism in community organizations, I have dedicated my career to service, working with Zev Yaroslavsky and Gray Davis among others, and championing equal rights for all Californians. My legacy will support women’s reproductive rights.
The California Community Foundation partnered with StoryCorps to record the stories of our Centennial Legacy Society members. StoryCorps is a national nonprofit whose mission is to provide all people with the chance to record, preserve, and share the stories of our lives.
