Chado North America Program Fund
Chado – the Way of Tea is characterized as the very essence of Japanese culture encompassing various artistic disciplines including ceramics, architecture, garden design, and literature, as well as the spiritual practices that go into the formation of one’s character. This Japanese tradition, based on the principles of “harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility”, was established as an aesthetic and spiritual “path” originated more than 400 years ago by the tea master Sen no Rikyu.
The Chado North America Program Fund is dedicated to supporting programs that celebrate various aspects of this rich cultural tradition and to continuing the international mission begun in 1951 by Dr. Genshitsu Sen, fifteenth generation Grand Master of the Urasenke Chado Tradition of sharing the ideals of Chado with the people of the world.
