The Community is Our Foundation
The California Community Foundation’s Board of Directors and staff are fully committed to making a difference through meaningful advocacy, outreach and community investments. Ultimately, we understand that every dollar we receive and grant represents a donor’s legacy, a dream for lasting change and a chance to bring that dream to life.
Our dedication to fiscal responsibility, transparency and careful stewardship of donor contributions has resulted in our being entrusted with more than 1,600 funds and more than $1.7 billion in assets. Since 2000, CCF has tripled our assets, received more than $2.2 billion in donor contributions and given out almost $2 billion in grants, making CCF the fourth largest community foundation and one of the nation’s top 50 foundations in terms of assets, grantmaking and contributions.
Our reputation is built on the careful stewardship of donor intentions. All of our donor funds are individually managed for utmost care and effectiveness.
Changing Lives by Changing Systems
As a community foundation, CCF is committed to addressing the complex challenges and unleashing the extraordinary potential of Los Angeles County. We are committed to uniting the power of charitable giving and innovative strategies to improve the quality of life throughout our region.
Our mission is to lead positive systemic change that strengthens Los Angeles communities. We envision a future where all Angelenos have the opportunity to contribute to the productivity, health and well-being of our region. And we believe that our common fate will be determined by how successfully we improve the quality of life for all of our residents.
From health and education to immigration, housing and economic development, our knowledge and expertise ensures our donors are able to maximize the impact of their giving. And our proven track record of sound investments ensures those generous gifts can continue creating meaningful change into the future.
Building Los Angeles Together
In 2015, the California Community Foundation celebrated 100 years of serving the people of Los Angeles County. We began our second century with an ambitious pledge: Grant $1 billion to L.A. County nonprofits over the next 10 years.
Since this pledge was announced in 2015, we and our donors have given more than $300 million to thousands of organizations and causes in Los Angeles County. Whether for health or education, animal welfare or the arts, these gifts improve the quality of life for our neighbors and create a stronger future for our children.
We can’t achieve this goal on our own. It depends on the limitless passion, generosity and creativity of Los Angeles donors, nonprofits and community and government leaders.
Because the community is our foundation, we are addressing L.A. County’s greatest challenges, and together we can realize its potential.
