Valerie Varela

Program Officer

Valerie Varela provides program support to the LA n Sync initiative, designing grants for capacity building to increase the ability for community-based organizations to access grants, along with supporting grantmaking of government grant applications.

Valerie is a program and evaluation specialist harnessing the power of strategy and evaluation to advance social change. Her work aims to accelerate the ability for underinvested communities and marginalized individuals to thrive. Valerie has enjoyed working in international and multi-cultural settings across various continents and organizations aimed at bringing quality health systems and humanitarian aid to the most in need with non-profit organizations, government, and international organizations.

She holds a Master of Social Work in Policy and Program Evaluation of Community and Social Systems from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Global & International Studies in culture and ideology.
