On December 9, strong winds and dry conditions ignited a fast-moving brush fire in Malibu near Pepperdine University. As of Thursday morning, the fire has grown to 4,035 acres, forcing 20,000 residents to evacuate the area.
With the wildfire contained at 7%, authorities are concerned that it will continue to pose a threat to the local community.
