By their very nature, solutions are always more powerful than problems.
Our work is only possible because of the hard work and dedication of our nonprofit partners. From childcare and clinics to shelters and the arts, nonprofit organizations provide a vital safety net for our most vulnerable residents.
A strong and healthy nonprofit sector is crucial to the future of Los Angeles County. Yet organizations often struggle to cover basic overhead like office space, utilities and salaries. We seek to reduce these burdens with multi-year core operating funding so great organizations can continue doing good works.
Investing in our nonprofit partners’ sustainability helps them achieve their missions with greater impact. That’s why we provide “more than a grant” support to our nonprofit partners by offering workshops and training in leadership development, fundraising, financial management and communications.
And in order to make the widest impact possible, we have created tools to help our nonprofit partners become more self-sufficient and sustainable. Our Planned Giving Tool Kit helps nonprofits learn how to incorporate planned giving into their development strategies and even provides them with customizable donor outreach materials.
Our Nonprofit Sustainability Initiative aims to increase efficiency and effectiveness, reduce duplication and facilitate partnerships in the nonprofit sector. Launched in 2012 in partnership with the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation and Weingart Foundation, and now supported by a dozen local foundations, this initiative has provided more than 60 organizations with more than $1 million to assess capacity, support restructuring, integrate programs and share their lessons across the nonprofit sector.
