No matter who we are or what unique experience we bring, we all have a place at the table and something valuable to contribute.
Civic engagement is the path toward empowering communities to address challenges, change policies and improve their quality of life. By supporting civic engagement in Los Angeles County, CCF is ensuring that even the most vulnerable in our communities have a voice to call for policy changes that improve their personal and communities’ wellbeing.
Through convening, collaboration, leadership training and advocacy, we work to support positive systemic change, and our civic engagement grants have provided almost $17 million for a wide range of innovative social change programs across the county since 2009. Many of our grants have supported critical community-based efforts that yielded policy changes, including raising the minimum wage for City of Los Angeles hotel workers and ensuring health services for undocumented residents in Los Angeles County.
Civic engagement lies at the heart of CCF. All of our work, from arts and education to economic development and youth empowerment, is premised upon the belief that we all benefit when underserved and underrepresented communities are empowered to control their own destinies.
