The California Community Foundation works with several special grant programs created to meet the interests of donors or partnering foundations. Each of these grant programs has its own guidelines, application and review process.
Brief descriptions of current special grant programs are listed below. Click on the name of each grant program to learn more:
Dolphin Change Fund
The Dolphin Change Program Fund awards grants to agencies addressing homelessness in Santa Monica. Spare change and other contributions are collected in dolphin sculptures placed on the Third Street Promenade and Main Street in Santa Monica. Each year, these grants are awarded at the Westside Shelter and Hunger Coalition’s Celebrating Success event. Applications are solicited by invitation only.
FEDCO Charitable Foundation
The FEDCO Foundation provides small grants for full-time public school teachers serving students in grades K-12 in Cerritos, Culver City, Norwalk-La Mirada, Pasadena and Los Angeles Unified school districts.
Priorities include hands-on, classroom, or “real-world” field trips that encourage experiential learning, enhance student understanding, and increase student achievement in core subject areas: language arts, mathematics, science or social studies.

Long Beach Navy Memorial Heritage Association
The Long Beach Navy Memorial Heritage Association (LBNMHA) Fund was created to preserve the heritage and historic sites of Long Beach, recognize the contributions of the Long Beach Naval Station and Shipyard to the City of Long Beach, and honor the work of architect Paul Revere Williams.
The application period is now closed.
Thelma Pearl Howard Foundation
The Thelma Pearl Howard Foundation provides support to projects or programs in Los Angeles County that focus on arts-based educational enrichment activities for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
