Through their creative endeavors, these artists help build social capital, bridge cultural barriers and celebrate the rich diversity of Los Angeles County.
The community foundation would also like to recognize the efforts of the panelists who had the arduous task of reviewing numerous applications and an even more difficult and challenging task of selecting the eight Mid-Career and three Emerging Artist Fellows.
Panelists for the 2006 Fellowships for Visual Artists:
Kavin Buck, Director of Enrollment Management and Outreach at the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture and co-founder of South La Brea Gallery.
Pat Gomez, Arts Manager for the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs responsible for the Private Percent for Art, City Art Collection, and Murals Programs.
Rita Gonzalez, Assistant Curator and Special Assistant to the Deputy Director in the Center for Art of the Americas, Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Kris Kuramitsu, Former Curator for the Collections of Eileen Harris-Norton and Peter Norton and former Director of Arts Programs for the Peter Norton Family Foundation.
Susan Silton, A 2005 visual artist fellowship recipient and multi-disciplinary artist whose work resides in the uncomfortable, fluid, tenuous and exhilarating space of the “in-between.”
