The California Community Foundation (CCF) will contribute an initial grant of $150,000 to support immediate relief in the wake of a wildfire that has ravaged Angeles National Forest north of Los Angeles. Since it erupted Aug. 26, the wildfire has killed two firefighters, destroyed more than five dozen homes and forced thousands of evacuations.

Of CCF’s grant, $100,000 will go to four human and social services organizations and $50,000 to two animal shelters and rescue organizations. They include:

“In times of disaster, our role as a community foundation is to respond quickly and get help to those who have been affected by this fire,” said Antonia Hernández, president and CEO at the foundation. “More support will be needed and we will facilitate donations to those who want to help.”

If you would like to contribute to immediate relief for those affected by the fire, please consider donating directly to one of the grantees listed above.

If you would like to support intermediate and long-term recovery efforts through CCF, please consider donating to the Southern California Wildfire Relief Fund by clicking here.

The Southern California Wildfire Relief Fund, established in 2003, supported long-term relief and recovery efforts in the aftermath of devastating wildfires in Southern California in 2003, 2007 and 2008. CCF waives all administrative fees associated with the fund and the disbursement of grants to ensure that 100 percent of the funds is used for recovery efforts.
