Korean-American Community Leaders Meet With President of California Community Foundation: Hernández Vows to Build Strong Relationships
Los Angeles — Philanthropically-minded members of the Los Angeles Korean-American community met last night with the new President and CEO of the California Community Foundation in an effort to strengthen ties between the two groups.
More than 50 Korean-American community leaders met with Antonia Hernández and other foundation staff at an evening reception where Hernández, president and CEO of the California Community Foundation, spoke to guests about her desire to increase outreach to the Korean-American community.
“We want to be a partner and a vehicle for Korean-Americans who want to improve their community,” says Hernández. “We want to be known as an organization that truly makes a positive impact on all of the various communities that make up our diverse region.”
Under Hernández’s leadership, the community foundation aims to strengthen ties and build partnerships within specific communities, accurately reflecting the diversity of Los Angeles.
“We want to become more visible in the Korean-American community, both as a vehicle for personal philanthropy and as a grantmaker,” said Ki Suh Park, a prominent Korean-American architect and a member of the community foundation’s board of governors.
Established in 1915, the California Community Foundation — one of the largest and most active philanthropic organizations in Southern California — is dedicated to making grants to nonprofit organizations serving the many communities of Los Angeles County.
