The Children's Bureau is one of many nonprofit partners that help constituents in need through the Pass It Along (Acts of Kindness) Fund. |
In this holiday season of giving thanks and celebrating community, many people are struggling and need your support and kindness. CCF’s Pass It Along (Acts of Kindness) Fund is just the vehicle to achieve that, as it helps people in crisis and is currently accepting donations.
These grants are made to people who have exhausted all other resources, who may have been victims of a crime or natural disaster or who otherwise are facing extreme hardship that a one-time small grant could help address. Examples include help with moving costs to avoid homelessness, funding for essential educational equipment or for medical equipment like hearing aids.
With this support, recipients are asked to pass along the kindness to at least two other people in need. For example, A.D., a quadriplegic living in a rehab and residence facility, wanted to advance his communication and educational opportunities through the use of a computer and other specialized equipment. When he received the equipment through a Pass It Along (Acts of Kindness) Fund grant, he taught another quadriplegic how to use the computer. A year later, the fund bought computer equipment for this other resident who was able to study online until his unfortunate death a year later. To pass along the act of kindness, the facility will give this equipment to another resident who is paralyzed.
Since the fund was created in 2000, it has helped more than 1,000 men, women and children.
