Three-year support for a nationwide English and Spanish media campaign to raise awareness of the impact of the OEF and OIF wars on the troops, their families and our communities.

Internationally recognized for more than 50 years as the world’s leader in public service advertising, The Ad Council is a private, nonprofit organization that produces, distributes and promotes thousands of public service campaigns on behalf of nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Their campaigns have addressed issues such as improving the quality of life for children, preventative health care, education, community well-being, environmental preservation and strengthening families.

Three-year support to raise awareness of the impact of OEF and OIF wars on military personnel and their families by telling their personal stories through the creation and broad electronic distribution of professionally produced visual media.

Brave New Foundation champions social justice issues by using a model of media, education and grassroots volunteer involvement that inspires, empowers, motivates and teaches civic participation and makes a difference. It creates tools and equips citizens to change policies in order to expand an open functioning democratic society and promote vigorous debate since 1989.

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA)

Three-year support for an Ad Council campaign to raise awareness about the impact of the war on the troops, their families and their communities; and to provide partial general operating support to IAVA to ensure that it remains a viable operation throughout the three-year effort.

IAVA received three separate grants in support of various programs and activities. Individual grant descriptions may be found under core operating support and policy and advocacy grants pages.

Since 2004, IAVA works to ensure the enactment of policies that properly provide for America’s troops and veterans and helps to empower Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans to use their credibility and experiences to speak out about their experiences, shape public opinion and place a priority on these issues.

National Public Radio (NPR)

Three-year support to expand international, national and local news and feature coverage on the impact of deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan on American military personnel and their families.

NPR is an internationally acclaimed producer and distributor of noncommercial news, talk and entertainment programming. A privately supported, nonprofit membership organization, NPR serves a growing audience of 26 million Americans each week in partnership with more than 800 independently operated, noncommercial public radio stations.
