California Community Foundation Announces Ann Sewill as New President of the Community Foundation Land Trust

Foundation Also Appoints Two New Vice Presidents

Los Angeles —The California Community Foundation announced today that it has appointed Ann Sewill as president of its Community Foundation Land Trust (CFLT). In her new role, Sewill will oversee the community foundation’s efforts to create affordable homes and rental units for low- and moderate-income Los Angeles County residents.

“In a county where the median home price just topped $500,000, the need for more affordable rental and for-sale housing units is apparent. The foundation’s CFLT was created to address this problem,” said Antonia Hernández, president and CEO of the California Community Foundation. “Since the CFLT owns the land, this innovative model works well because it reduces market volatility, stabilizing home sale prices and allowing low-income families as well as nurses, firemen and others to live in the communities they serve.”

Previously, Sewill was Vice President and California Director for Enterprise Community Partners, a nonprofit organization that offers financial products and services to support the entire affordable housing and community development spectrum. Sewill ran the California office and was responsible for providing loans, grants and training to community groups developing housing and other facilities. She has also worked with several local governments and has a wealth of experience in creating low-income housing.

The California Community Foundation recently announced two internal promotions as well. Peter Dunn was appointed Vice President, Philanthropic Services for the community foundation. The foundation’s chief development officer, Dunn oversees development and gift planning programs, donor grantmaking programs and the foundation’s scholarship programs. Peter joined the foundation in 1996 as a Gift Planning Officer and served as Director of Gift Planning from 1998 to 2006.

Linda Wong was promoted to Vice President, Civic Engagement, Communications and Administration. In addition to overseeing the administrative operations of the community foundation, Wong supervises all of the foundation’s efforts to engage and communicate with its many target audiences.

Wong joined the community foundation in January 2006 as Director of Civic Engagement to further the foundation’s goal to become more actively involved in the Los Angeles community.

Established in 1915, the California Community Foundation is one of the largest and most active philanthropic organizations in Southern California, with assets of more than $800 million. In partnership with its donors, the foundation supports nonprofit organizations and public institutions with funds for health and human services, affordable housing, early childhood education, community arts and culture and other areas of need.
