Jane B. Eisner, Chair
President, The Eisner Foundation
A resident of Los Angeles for the past 30 years, Jane Breckenridge Eisner has long been actively involved in community service. Besides CCF, she is a member of the boards of directors of the Harvard-Westlake School, the Smithsonian National Board and The Foundation for AIDS Research. She also is the founding president of The Eisner Foundation, which was established in 1996 to help children in need in Southern California. Mrs. Eisner is a member of the Aspen Music Festival National Council, the Blue Ribbon Committee of the Music Center of Los Angeles, and the board of visitors of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. A graduate of St. Lawrence University, Mrs. Eisner is married to Michael Eisner, former head of Disney, and has three children, Breck, Eric and Anders.
Reveta Bowers, Chair-elect
Head of School, The Center for Early Education
A native Angeleno, Reveta Franklin Bowers is Head of School at The Center for Early Education, an independent coed day school for students of differing ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. A recognized leader in her field, Ms. Bowers has served as president of the California Association of Independent Schools and treasurer of the National Association of Independent Schools. She has been a trustee at Harvard Westlake and Windward schools in Los Angeles, and is on the boards of the Fulfillment Fund, the Educational Records Bureau, and the Brentwood School. Ms. Bowers earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and has a master’s degree and three teaching credentials. She also was a Klingenstein Fellow at Columbia University Teachers College in New York. She and her husband of more than 37 years, Superior Court Judge Bob S. Bowers, have two adult children.

David Bohnett
Managing Member, Baroda Ventures LLC
David Bohnett is a philanthropist and technology entrepreneur. He is chair of the David Bohnett Foundation and head of private equity firm Baroda Ventures. Mr. Bohnett has spent his professional career in the technology and information services industry. He founded GeoCities, an Internet-based media and e-commerce company. GeoCities was cited by Internet ranking firm, Media Metrix, as one of the top four most-trafficked sites on the web. The company became publicly traded on NASDAQ and was subsequently acquired by Yahoo! Inc. Mr. Bohnett also held various positions in the software industry for Legent and Goal Systems. He started his career as a staff consultant with Accenture (then Anderson Consulting) in Los Angeles. He has an MBA in finance from the University of Michigan and a BS in business administration from the University of Southern California. He and his significant other live in Los Angeles.

Mr. Fleming has been counsel to Latham & Watkins since 1992. A corporate attorney for 43 years, he has represented clients in various areas including banking, real estate, estate and securities practices, bringing to market over $2 billion in securities and commercial paper.
Mr. Fleming was president of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the City of Los Angeles from 1993-2001. He now serves on the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission. From 1996 to 1999, he served as a member and vice chairman of the California Transportation Commission. He is chairman of the board of the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley, a valley-wide organization of business and civic leaders from Los Angeles, Burbank and Glendale, including 25 Chambers of Commerce. He also serves as board chair of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation and Valley Presbyterian Hospital.

Dennis Gertmenian

Dennis Gertmenian is founder and chief executive officer of Ready Pac Produce, a national leader in fresh-cut salads and specialty produce. An innovator in the produce field, he has served as the chairman of the board of directors of the International Fresh-Cut Produce Association and as a member of the California Department of Agriculture Task Force. Each week, more than 35 million people in the U.S. and Canada consume Ready Pac products. The company commits 10 percent of profits to community support. Mr. Gertmenian is the chairman of the Ready Pac Kids-to-Camp nonprofit organization, sending underprivileged kids to summer camp. He received an AA degree from Pasadena City College, a bachelor’s degree from USC and an MBA from Pepperdine University. Mr. Gertmenian is married with five children.

Mr. Johnson is president and founder of Johnson Martin Advisors, Inc., a Beverly Hills investment management firm serving high net worth clients, with about $400 million under management. Before starting the firm in 1992, Mr. Johnson was vice president of finance of KB Home (NYSE) in Los Angeles from 1990-91. From 1987 to 1990 he was managing director and chief financial officer of The O’Connor Group in New York City (a partnership that controlled about $1.5 billion in commercial real estate). From 1980 to 1987 he held various positions at the Los Angeles headquarters of Santa Fe International Corporation, a $3.5 billion asset privately held diversified energy company. His tenure there culminated in his role as senior vice president and CFO. He received an AB degree from Princeton University in 1972 and an MBA in 1976 from The University of Chicago, where he was honored with The Wall Street Journal Award for Excellence in Finance.

Joanne Corday Kozberg

Joanne Corday Kozberg is a partner in California Strategies, a public affairs consulting firm. Ms. Kozberg received her bachelor’s degree in history from UC Berkeley and her master’s degree in public policy from Occidental College. From 1999 through 2002, she was president and chief operating officer of the Music Center of Los Angeles County. From 1993 to 1998, she served as California’s Secretary of State and Consumer Services. Ms. Kozberg is a member of the board of the J. Paul Getty Trust, and previously was chair of the California Arts Council from 1988 to 1991 and its executive director from 1991 to 1993. Ms. Kozberg also was executive director of the Coro Foundation in Southern California and Southern California director of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. She is a graduate of the Coro Fellowship program. Ms. Kozberg was appointed to a 12-year term as a regent in 1998 by Governor Wilson.

Quan Phung
Former Senior Vice President, Twentieth Century Fox Television
Mr. Phung was senior vice president, creative affairs for Twentieth Century Fox Television (TCFTV) from July 2004 to January 2008. He oversaw a department that develops and produces primetime comedy series that air on broadcast networks. TCFTV currently produces nine comedies, including the hit series, “The Simpsons’’ (FOX), “Family Guy’’ (FOX), “My Name Is Earl’’ (NBC) and “How I Met Your Mother’’ (CBS). Before switching to the studio side, Mr. Phung spent five years at FOX Broadcasting Company, where he was part of the creative team that developed the critically acclaimed comedies, “The Bernie Mac Show’’ and “Arrested Development,’’ and the hit dramas, “House, M.D.” and “Prison Break.’’ Mr. Phung serves on the boards of Visual Communications, which produces the Los Angeles Asian American Film Festival, and the Lodestone Theatre Ensemble. He graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in American studies.

Carolina Reyes, MD
Executive Director, Los Angeles Best Babies Collaborative/Center for Healthy Births
Dr. Carolina Reyes is the executive director of the LA Best Babies Network, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of mothers and their children. She is a visiting associate professor in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at USC’s Keck School of Medicine and is director of the Obstetrics Diabetes Clinic at Women’s and Children’s Hospital. After earning a bachelor’s degree at Stanford and her MD from Harvard Medical School, she completed her residency at Los Angeles County/USC Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She has been appointed to national medical committees and has been a senior scholar with the U.S. Agency for Health Research and Quality. She has received many awards, including the National Hispanic Scholarship Foundation Hall of Fame. She and her husband, Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.), are raising three children.

Dr. Rosser has served as president and professor of Health Care Management at California State University, Los Angeles, since 1979 and as professor of microbiology since 2004. Melanie Staggs
Ms. Staggs is a lifetime resident of Southern California and is active in numerous philanthropic and nonprofit organizations. She is on the advisory board of Goodsearch, LLC, an Internet search company that distributes 50 percent of its revenues to more than 32,000 charitable organizations nationwide. Ms. Staggs is the founder and chairperson of Thursday Night at the Movies, an annual benefit to raise money for The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network to promote food allergy research and education. She also worked in corporate strategic planning and brand management for the Walt Disney Company and in new business development for The Disney Stores. She holds a BA in economics, an MS in international policy and an MBA from Stanford University. She lives in Los Angeles County with her husband and three children.

Previously, he was senior vice president and general manager of Yahoo! and president of Recycler Classifieds. Mr. Schulz began his career at McKinsey & Company in Los Angeles. He serves on the board of Goodwill Industries of Southern California and is a member of the LA5 Rotary Club. He also is a former board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. Jean Bixby Smith

A native and resident of Long Beach, Ms. Smith is chairman and president of Alamitos Land Company. She recently stepped down as chairman of Bixby Land Company after 10 years, but continues to serve on its board. After graduating from Scripps College and earning a teaching credential from the Claremont Graduate School, Ms. Smith taught elementary school for nine years before joining the family businesses. She was honored with the Scripps College Distinguished Alumnae award for her service to the college and community. A trustee of the college for more than 25 years, she chaired the board from 1996 to 2004. In Long Beach she is active in the Rancho Los Cerritos Foundation, American Red Cross and the Long Beach Community Foundation, which she has chaired since its inception in 1996. She also sits on the board of International City Bank.

Sheldon M. Stone

Mr. Stone is a founding member of Oaktree Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based institutional money manager specializing in alternative investment strategies. He manages the firm’s $10 billion domestic high yield bond portfolios and has supervisory responsibilities for its European high yield bond activities and Mezzanine Fund. Before forming Oaktree, he helped establish The TCW Group’s high yield bond department in 1985 and ran it for 10 years. Previously, Mr. Stone was a high yield bond credit analyst at Citibank, and a director in the corporate finance department of The Prudential Insurance Company of America. He is on the advisory boards for the USC Marshall School Center for Investment Studies and Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth. A New Jersey native, Mr. Stone holds an AB from Bowdoin College, where he is a trustee, and an MBA in accounting and finance from Columbia University.

Dr. Cynthia Ann Telles is the director of the Spanish Speaking Psychosocial Clinic of the Neuropsychiatric Institute and Hospital at UCLA School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She serves on the boards of the Kaiser Foundation, The California Endowment, the Music Center and the City of Los Angeles Board of Library Commissioners and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health. She also is a member of the Mental Health Task Force of The Carter Center in Atlanta, Ga. Her many awards include a certificate of appreciation from the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office and a Woman of Courage award from the City of Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women. Dr. Telles received a bachelor’s degree from Smith College and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Boston University. Dr. Telles and her husband, Robert M. Hertzberg, Speaker Emeritus of the California State Assembly, have three sons.

Ms. Unger has worked as a public affairs consultant in the political, corporate and nonprofit arena for more than 30 years. She has been a partner in UT Strategies, Inc., where she represented municipal and corporate entities, and Unger/Thomas, where she represented state governors, U.S. senators and local elected officials. Ms. Unger is chair of the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project and is on the boards of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles and the National Planned Parenthood Action Fund. She is a trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation and vice president of the American Jewish Committee in Los Angeles. She also is a former president of the board of governors of the California Community Colleges. A native of Los Angeles, Ms. Unger received her BA from UC Berkeley in 1969. Sonia Marie De León de Vega
Executive Director, Santa Cecilia Orchestra
Ms. De Leon de Vega, noted symphony and opera conductor, has achieved distinction as a woman in a groundbreaking career role and as an influential leader in the growing Latino culture in the United States. She became the first woman in history to receive a Vatican invitation to conduct a symphony orchestra at a Papal Mass. She formed the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Los Angeles in 1992 to bring classical music to the Latino community. She created the dynamic Discovering Music program, which takes orchestra members into elementary schools in underserved Latino neighborhoods to introduce children to classical music and orchestra instruments. Ms. De Leon de Vega also is the producer and music director for the annual Opera Under the Stars concert in Los Angeles, which has launched the careers of many young operatic vocalists. In 2000 she was voted “Outstanding Latina Woman of the Year’’ by Unison and other corporations.

Mr. Vera is a partner with the Claremont, Calif., law firm of Gutierrez & Vera. Before starting his private practice, he was with two nationally recognized public interest law firms where he litigated seminal cases in civil rights and education. He now advises education foundations and nonprofit entities, in addition to representing businesses, school districts and postsecondary institutions on a variety of matters. He serves on the boards of the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, the Los Angeles County Fair Association, the California Consortium of Education Foundations. During his 30 years of practice, he has received a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, and was honored with the Sierra Club Community Service Award for his pro bono work on environmental projects in Southern California. A native of Southern California, Mr. Vera earned a BS from Michigan State University and a law degree from UCLA. He and his wife Christina Vega, an educator, have four sons.
