What are they?
Establishing a field of interest fund at the California Community Foundation allows you to direct your giving as narrowly or broadly as you choose.
Rather than naming a particular organization, field of interest funds are created for a specified, broad purpose and/or geographic region. For example, you might establish a fund to support arts education, affordable housing development or San Fernando Valley senior services.
Through a field of interest fund, you can be assured that grants will be made to the best organizations at the right times, in perpetuity.
Field of interest funds can include memorial funds. Memorial funds can be established by a surviving spouse, a friend, a group of co-workers or professional colleagues, or anyone who wishes to honor someone who has died. The fund is named for that person and is dedicated to a fitting field of interest. It becomes a permanent living memorial that will always have great meaning.
