Joan Palevsky, An Enduring Legacy
In October 2006, the California Community Foundation announced a historic $257 million bequest from the late philanthropist Joan Palevsky — the single largest gift the foundation has received since it was established in 1915. The donation enabled the foundation to double its competitive grantmaking to $25 million a year and established the Joan Palevsky Endowment for the Future of Los Angeles.
