Buscamos una residencia
In this chapter we have discussed the fact that some people live in houses while others live in apartments. Now, you will visit a Web site where you can explore some advertisements for houses and apartments to rent in Argentina. Your goal will be to choose two possible residences, which you will compare and contrast, to decide which you would prefer to live in.
- Before going online, you should become familiar with some vocabulary related to housing advertisements. The following words are cognates. Can you guess what they mean?
el garaje
el parking
el jardín
la barbacoa
The following words will also be useful in order to understand the advertisements you will read:
| el dormitorio, el cuarto |
— bedroom |
| la cocina |
— kitchen |
| el comedor |
— dining room |
| el salón |
— living room |

- Click on the address below to go to the Servicio Inmobiliario de Ofertas por Computación Web site; once there, click on Casas. Then click on Rangos de precio to see pictures and descriptions of available housing. Identify the two that you find most desirable. In section C, you will complete a chart on each, using the information you find.
- Now your task is to compare and contrast the two residences you have chosen in the same price range. Your goal is to decide which house or apartment you would like to live in, based on what each has to offer.
- Find a partner and share your decision with him or her. Show your partner which house or apartment you like better; be sure to give the reasons for your choice.
Example:
Me gusta más este apartamento/esta casa porque …
Hay tres dormitorios y dos baños.
También hay una piscina y un jardín.
