Enrique Castrejon | Our Love, Our Health, Our Strength
My artwork reflects my experience in public health within the LGBT community and expresses the importance of access to health care and to show how it contributes in building stronger communities through understanding our bodies, health and disease. As an artist that has worked in public health for over 15 years in HIV care, I’ve seen how access to health care can make a difference in the quality of life of marginalized communities, especially Black and Latinx gay and transgender communities. I’m interested in increased community advocacy through artworks that addresses economic stresses, homophobia, transphobia, immigration, and disease stigma to reflect how they are contributing factors that prevent many in our community from accessing care.
