The AP* U.S. History Themes that appear in the College Board's AP* United States History Course Description booklet (Acorn Book) are correlated here with those portions of America: Past and Present that are especially relevant to each theme. The purpose of the themes is to tie together the events of U.S. history and encourage students to think conceptually about patterns of change over the span of history. This conceptual understanding of U.S. history could be important to success on the AP* U.S. history exam.
