John R. Wooden Scholarship Fund
During the 27 years John R. Wooden coached the UCLA men's basketball
team, he brought them to 19 Conference Championships and 10
NCAA championships. But his winning record is only part of the
story of Coach Wooden.
Wooden's real passion is his dedication as a teacher and educator.
Applied Materials established the John R. Wooden Scholarship
Fund to provide scholarship support to universities identified
through the John R. Wooden Scholarship Program. Since 2002,
the fund has enabled 38 students endowed with the qualities
of leadership and dedication to pursue their educational goals.
In 2004, for the first time, a woman's award will be presented,
and women will benefit from the John R. Wooden Scholarships.
Sponsor Applied Materials has been joined by Accenture, Celerity,
Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Oracle, Sanmina-SCI,
Thayer Capital Partners and individual contributors in supporting
this scholarship fund.
