Secure Seniors Fund

Jay and Linda Sandrich With a successful, decades-long television career, Jay Sandrich could retire at any time — not that he's planning on it. But should he decide to, he and his wife Linda are assured a comfortable, secure future.

Together they noticed that each month they receive a social security check which they don't need. And they know that there are some seniors who aren't as lucky, and struggle to meet their basic needs.

The Sandriches asked the foundation if there would be a way to use their social security dollars to help less fortunate seniors in our community. And the Secure Seniors Fund was born.

Demographers tell us that our city is aging: by 2030, older adults will represent nearly one-half of LA County's population. And the very services that seniors rely on the most are threatened, particularly medical care. Those living on fixed incomes face the prospect of a diminishing quality of life.

The Secure Seniors Fund at the California Community Foundation will support the nonprofits that step in to fill the gap by providing services that help maintain independence, secure housing, and assure caregiving. In time, it may become possible to fund programs such as cultural and recreational activites.

If you don't need your Social Security payments, or if you would simply like to help support less fortunate older adults in Los Angeles, make a contibution to the Secure Seniors Fund using the secure form above. Those interested in making a recurring contribution to the fund are encouraged to contact Director of Gift Planning Carol Bradford at (213) 413-4130.

Contributions to the California Community Foundation represent irrevocable gifts subject to the legal and fiduciary control of the foundation's Board of Directors.
